Coming into this with no knowledge of thermodynamics and how liquids freeze it took a little bit of study to understand why slushies made by this machine need to have more then 4% sugar, or less than 9% alcohol. As long as you do your math right and get your proportions in order – this is a great little machine for the kitchen counter. Word of warning: The packaging is set up such that you cut the tape on the bottom and lift the box off the machine. When we were unpackaging it – we didn’t know this and the lifted the box and the machine took a good 3 foot fall into a tile floor. Fortunately the machine worked after. Kudo’s to Shark/Ninja for being a highly innovative company!

I love this Slushi maker. Made a nice adult beverage, Orange Mimosa’s, and they had such a nice texture. So easy to use, and if your ingredients have been chilled, it sets up and ready to dispense fairly quickly. Cleaning is a breeze, especially using the rinse cycle built in. Disassembles for cleaning very easily, and reassembles just as easily. Wish it came with a recipe book (mine didn’t), but they have a lot of recipes on their website, and a web search will find you even more. Love that it has five presets for types of drinks you are making, and that you can also tweak the temperature, to finetune to texture you want. Need to follow the easy sugar/alcohol concentration guidelines to get the desired texture, but that is easy to learn. Also, if you want a sugar substitute, many will not work, so be careful. I got the substitute Allulose, which a few others said will work, and in my experience so far, they are right. Very Happy with this Purchase.
