   This product would be amazing…Except from day one it left a black soot on my counter tops. I thought it was just dust from a new product. I have had this a little over a month, and now black smoke comes out of the vent in the back and it smells of fire. Also, this isn’t programmable. It has one manual speed, when you place the container in the base and twist. This product is too expensive to be defective out of the box, ninjaoutlets.com says my return window is closed.

   I’ve been using this personal blender for several months, and I use it at least 4 or 5 times per week. Very highly recommend!! There are just a few things you need to know before purchasing, so you get the most out of your blender! I spent such a long time researching blenders just like this, and some of the reviews got me nervous. I’m so glad I took a chance on this powerful little guy, it has exceeded expectations! It blends quickly and thoroughly, just as one would come to expect from Ninja. I’ve been using my Ninja 1100-watt large blender for years – LOVE it! I even blend split pea soup in it, but the small 900-watt has been a game changer for protein shakes after my workouts (it would be super impractical to use my big blender every day like that). Other reviewers mentioned how loud the unit is and how it’s difficult to clean because of the silicone gasket, which starts to smell horrid after just a few uses even after being cleaned. As for the sound, it is a *little* bit loud, but it’s really not that bad – you kind of have to expect some level of loudness due to the wattage and size. As for the smell issue – it’s true, I experienced it firsthand even after scrubbing it down with soap by hand, running everything through the dishwasher multiple times, and nothing would get rid of the smell. I managed to weasel the silicone gasket out (no small feat! You need something extremely sturdy and extremely thin to get it out), and it was super gross – I felt dumb for not realizing before that duh of course I’d need to remove it to clean it. I scrubbed and scrubbed, and soap just wasn’t strong enough to get rid of the smell – I was about to give up on this thing and send it back, if my last idea didn’t work…lo and behold, I *finally* got rid of the smell!! I soaked the whole gasket in a 50/50 hot water/oregano oil solution for about an hour then thoroughly washed it by hand several times, and the smell has never returned BECAUSE I followed the advice of a gentleman reviewer to use dental floss to loop around the gasket before you put it back into the deep crevice (I salute you, sir!). So now I can pull the gasket out incredibly easily after every single use to clean it! You just need to make sure you grip the floss when twisting the blade on and off (as shown in the photos). I took 1 star off for that and the fact that the drinking tops are quite easy to unintentionally over-tighten and extremely difficult to get off after you’ve done so, especially when wet. I wouldn’t recommend this for someone with arthritis. My favorite go-to smoothie recipe: 1 cup frozen strawberries (or dark cherries or peaches or whatever fruits you like) 1.5 cups unsweetened plain almond/cashew protein milk 1 scoop Ancient Nutrition salted caramel protein powder Several thin slices of fresh ginger (about 2g) A dash of cinnamon and nutmeg Delicious and super healthy!!! I truly never get tired of this recipe.

   As someone who tries to limit their amount of countertop appliances, I am so happy I bought this blender! It is super easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store. I was apprehensive to purchase after reading reviews of how the seal/gasket on the blade attachment can get stinky and gross. But after reading a few reassuring reviews I decided to give it a try – a well trusted brand at that price point has got to stack up! And it has delivered – I haven’t had any issues with it. However, I am very careful to not just clean and (occasionally) bleach the blender top, but I’m diligent to rinse off the top after every time I use it, even if I’m in the midst of using it. In other words, when I stop to check the contents of the blender by opening the top, I run it under water quickly to get any residue off before reapplying the blade attachment. That way if any of the blended food contents ran down from the blade and into the gasket, it doesn’t get rammed into the seal with the reapplication of the blade. I think this is crucial to the longevity of the seal and attachment as a whole. Also, I’ve found myself using this appliance for more than just frozen blended foods. I LOVE using it to beat eggs – it’s makes them so fluffy and delectable. I also really love using it to mix my protein powder with my cold brew in the mornings. Gets the perfect consistency with the right amount of froth. 10/10 recommend this product!

   This thing is great. It’s basically a lightweight blender that’s easier and quicker to use or to clean. I feel much more motivated to make smoothies and shakes knowing that I can complete the whole process in minutes. In fact, I even started doing smoothie-prepped baggies because of it. After buying a variety of fruit, I cut it all up and combine the ones I want to use in my smoothies into ziplock bags. Then I stick those bags in the freezer to use them whenever without worrying about the fruit going bad. In the morning, I just throw in the frozen fruit from the bag and combine it with milk of choice (usually vanilla almond milk or lactaid) and blend. All I have to do after that is change the lid or throw in a metal straw. Milkshakes are easier too! Just a few scoops of ice cream with some milk and maybe something extra like fruit or cookies. I use this everyday to make either a smoothie or a protein shake and it’s honestly been more helpful than I imagined. It’s small enough that I don’t mind keeping it out on my kitchen counter and it’s easy to clean because you just have to combine soap+water and blend it.
